Frequently Asked Questions

In most cases we can deliver the instrument to your child's school.

Deliveries are typically made within 7 days of the order being finalized and down payment processed.

You will be notified by text message of the expected delivery date.  Instruments are left with the school band director for distribution to students.

There is no interest and no hidden fees in our rental programs.  We are proud to provide one of the lowest costs of total ownership you will find from vs. any area music store.

To determine the total cost of the instrument, simply multiply the monthly payment times the number of payments in the Rent-To-Own agreement.

For example, an instrument with $35 monthly rent and a 36 month RTO term would be $1,260. This does not include tax, and monthly Comprehensive Coverage is additional and does not count toward the purchase price.

If you choose to!  Our Parter Rental and Reduced Rental progams both provide the opportunity to own the instrument upon completion of all rental payments.

In order to maintain Rent-To-Own status the payments must be made year-round for consecutive months for the full term of the agreement. The instrument maintained in good condition.   If you return the instrument and cease payments for any reason, the Rent-To-Own agreement ends and payments cannot be credited toward a future rental.

Note that our Gift of Music Program (no monthly rent) is NOT a Rent-To-Own program and the instrument remains property of Gift or Music at all times.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

There is no obligation to pay for the instrument for the full term of the Rent-To-Own agreement.  You may cancel at any time and return the instrument to Gift of Music.

To cancel, you MUST notify Gift of Music and request cancellation. DO NOT RETURN INSTRUMENTS TO THE SCHOOL OR DIRECTOR UNLESS DIRECTED TO DO SO.  Schools and Directors are not a party of the rental transaction and have no obligation or authority over the rental agreement.

Once the instrument has been physically received by Gift of Music and determined to be in good condition, monthly rental payments will end.

Yes!  If your student elects to switch to a different instrument (that we also have available to rent) you can exchange it at no additional charge.

If the instrument you are switching to is on the same rental program and the same price point, the rental agreement does not change and all payments made to date will be applied toward the exchange.  If the instrument is of a different program or a higher price point, the sum of your principal payments to date will be applied toward the new agreement and the monthly rate and length of the agreement may be adjusted.  Contact us for more details if you would like to exchange.

Possibly.  Gift of Music Instruments rental programs are currently only available within a 100-mile radius of our Marietta, GA headquarters.  This is to ensure that we can provide the best possible service including the ability to repair and retrieve the instruments if needed.

If your school is within the 100-mile coverage area but not listed, you may select the option of "Other - Not Listed" from the drop-down menus.  Be sure to list the name of the school in the "Rental Notes" section of your request form.

We will contact the director of any school where we do not have a current working relationship for approval prior to fulfilling the rental request and scheduling the instrument for delivery.

Coverage for your instruments - protect your investment

Our Repair And Maintenance Plan (RAMP) means your instrument is always in good condition

RAMP is included in all instrument programs at NO ADDITIONAL COST!

RAMP provides standard upkeep required to keep your rented instrument in playing condition. This includes adjustments and minor repairs. In many cases, our repair technicians will visit schools and can make minor repairs on site. If the repair requires a trip to our shop, we have fast turnaround times and can get the instrument back to your school quickly.

If you have a rental instrument from Gift of Music Instruments and need to have our repair shop check it out, simply submit a request below.

  • RAMP is included in every instrument program at no additional monthly cost for as long as you are making monthly program payments.
  • RAMP coverage ends upon completion or termination of rental agreement.

Basic repairs and adjustments to the instrument. Basic repairs are described as something that can be repaired quickly (1 hour or less) by a qualified repair
technician. Examples of a minor repair include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Replacement of a pad or key adjustments on a woodwind instrument.
  • Minor valve or slide repairs on a brass instrument.
  • Removal of minor cosmetic dents or dings.
  • Minor adjustments or repairs to percussion, orchestral, or string instruments.
  • Full re-pads or “overhauls” on woodwind instruments due to exposure to water or lack of care by the student.
  • Serious dents, cracks, or other damage that occur by any means.
  • Loss, theft, or destruction of the instrument or any accessories.
  • Damage to or destruction of the instrument case.
  • Replacement of reeds, strings, drumheads, drum sticks/mallets, bows, valve oil, cork grease, woodwind mouthpieces/ligatures and other “consumables” that are designed to wear out/run out as part of using the instrument.
  • Any repair or adjustment after you pay off the instrument in full and take ownership of it, and program payments cease.
  • Any damage that is caused by neglect or misuse of the instrument.
  • Maintain and clean the instrument as instructed by the manufacturer, director, teacher, etc.
  • Promptly report any problems to The Gift of Music Foundation.
  • Account must be current. RAMP protection is not in effect any time account is past due for any reason.

Optional Comprehensive Coverage protects you completely

Comprehensive Coverage (CC) protects your instrument against any loss, theft, or catastrophic damage (Limitations apply).

It’s an affordable way to be worry free. If your instrument is lost or damaged it will be replaced with no charge.  Compared to the potential cost of replacing an instrument, the peace of mind is invaluable. There’s a reason nearly 100% of our renters elect the Comprehensive Coverage option.

$6/month (Partner Program) | $3/month (Reduced Program)

  • This optional coverage plan that protects against loss, theft, or major damage to the instrument while program payments are being made.
  • Accounts must be in good standing with no unpaid monthly payments to use
  • Coverage must be elected at the time of rental.
  • Major accidental damage repairs above RAMP coverage.
  • Replacement of the instrument in the case of loss, theft, or damage beyond repair.
  • Any damage that is caused by neglect, misuse, or abuse of the instrument.
  • Any repair or adjustment after you pay off the instrument in full and take ownership of it, and program payments cease.
  • Replacement of reeds, strings, drumheads, drum sticks/mallets, bows, valve oil, cork grease, woodwind mouthpieces/ligatures and other “consumables” that are designed to wear out/run out as part of using the instrument.
  • In the case of loss or theft, renter must submit a copy of a police report showing all identifying instrument information such as: Tag #, Serial
Number, Asset #, Instrument type, brand, and model, etc.
  • In the case of damage beyond repair/destruction, instrument must be returned to The Gift of Music.

What We Will Do:

  • After proper documentation (police report, any other forms required) has been received, we will repair the current instrument or replace the
instrument with either a new or nearly new instrument of the same or similar make, model, and condition (at our discretion).
  • Existing balance remaining, and rental agreement terms would remain in effect.
  • Monthly Coverage payments are added to the program payment and are due each month. Coverage cannot be added after the rental agreement begins.
  • Monthly payments do NOT apply toward the purchase price of the instrument.
  • All decisions concerning damage, needed repairs, and whether to repair or replace instrument are solely at the discretion of The Gift of Music.
  • We reserve the right to deny a claim under Comprehensive Coverage if misuse, abuse, or neglect of the instrument is suspected or substantiated. We may also refuse a claim if fraud is suspected or substantiated.
  • A maximum of one (1) full-replacement claim may be made under the Comprehensive Coverage during the rental agreement period per instrument.
